The quarterly newsletter on rug braiding, “The Revolutionary Rug Braider,” started out as a newsletter for the Valley Forge Guild, but grew into a private newsletter put out by Christine Manges. Currently the subscribers number over 100.
Consisting of 24-30 pages per issue, the newsletter starts with some thoughts from the editor, then covers recent braid ins and exhibits, occasionally has an interview with a braiding artist, and has a teaching topic usually centered around a butted or continuous shape. It has a bulletin board of rugs that readers have sent in, and often features a scrap project with wool. The issues are filled with diagrams that illustrate each step in braiding carefully.
Issues are released in January, April, July, and October. Subscriptions are sent via an email, which contains a link to an internet download. Each subscription is for 1 year of issues, which costs $20.
For more information, contact Christine Manges, email@example.com, or send a check for $20 to Christine at 222 W. Swissvale Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15218.
